Cheers!

It was a hit! Thanks to the members who came to our wine and cheese tasting earlier this month. Some wonderful samples and tastings were had...refreshing reds and whites, paired perfectly with cheeses of course - a fun sideline to summer's usual fare. A great time!
And remember, fall's the perfect season to try some lovely local wines. Have fun experimenting, mixing and matching with your favorite meals...or just sit back, put your feet up and relax with a glass to savor.
Stay tuned for more special events and activities coming this fall!

All Sport Fishkill introduces new CIA Chef

Corbin Trent, the new chef at The Poolside Café at All Sport Fishkill's Outdoor Park would like to "Save the health of America", one meal at a time. His theory is "people want healthy food that tastes good, at a decent price." Having recently taken charge of Poolside Café, he is offering healthy options. During the summer, paninis and salads have been big sellers. Cool frosty drinks, alcoholic or not, are also available.
Corbin, a Culinary Institute of America chef, originally hails from Morristown, Tennessee. His warm and friendly manner has already earned him loyal customers who love to see the new dishes Corbin has created. Recent specials include paninis and burgers topped with mushrooms. A tomato-basil vinaigrette, and Mediterranean vinaigrette are presently available to accompany a variety of fresh summertime salads. Seafood entrees are offered as specials.
At the Poolside Café, using fresh, healthy ingredients is a top priority. Corbin shops the local farmers markets for the freshest food available. A tasty, healthy mesclun mix is included in all salads, and on burgers and sandwiches. Turkey burgers contain fresh, all white meat, seasoned in-house, with quinoa* added, never breadcrumbs. Whole wheat buns are offered, and the beef and poultry are fresh. The grilled chicken is marinated in Hawaiian style pineapple brine.
Corbin has plenty of new and innovative ideas. The Frozen Zone is a new ice cream stand that serves up frosty ice cream floats, milkshakes, and sundaes. Coming in August is a Hawaiian Luau. This event and others can be found on the All Sport Fishkill calendar, on-line at allsportfishkill.com.
The Poolside Café is open to the public, seven days a week, all summer long. The restaurant will close in extreme weather, as it is sheltered, but still outside. Come on up on the deck, feel the cool breezes blow, and try out the latest healthy menu items.
If you're in a hurry, take out is available, just call in your order to the Poolside Café at 896-5678, ext.135.

Introducing Mark Guay, Endurance Trainer and Triathlon Coach

The Personal Training team at All Sport Health & Fitness welcomes Mark Guay, coach and competitor with extensive experience in the field of endurance sports.
Mark Guay, a native of Buffalo, NY, and an English teacher at Ketcham High School, has been involved with endurance training for the past eight years. Mark encourages others to take the first step, regardless of their past experience. Mark uses himself as an example, as he explains: "By no means was I bred to race. In high school I was involved in acting, and did not compete on any teams, but I always played various sports in my neighborhood." His first race in this area was the Dutchess County Classic. A moment of inspiration occurred six years ago during a race in Buffalo, when Mark was running his first half marathon. At the seven-mile marker, a seventy-two year old runner passed him, encouraging Mark to keep running, raising his spirits. Mark finds this positive attitude of other runners a true inspiration.
Mark currently competes with the team: Full Throttle Endurance, a national competitive triathlon team based in New York City. This U.S. Association of Triathlon Team has won the title for the past three years. Mark also is a coach for Full Throttle.
Mark's passion is helping others achieve the skills that he has worked hard towards, and has ultimately achieved. Triathlons include running, swimming and biking. The Endurance Training Program that Mark has created at All Sport Health & Fitness helps athletes and non-athletes alike prepare for a 5k, half marathon, duathlon or triathlon. This is the only program of this type currently available in the Dutchess county area.
Mark also offers personalized, one-on-one endurance training. Mark coaches clients as they run, bike and swim. Personalized training plans and nutritional guidance are part of this training. All Sport's personal training fees apply, and there is a special starter package available.
Endurance training is for the competitive or recreational athlete. Please e-mail Mark at markg@allsportfishkill.com, or call Chris Duro, Director of Personal Training at
All Sport Health & Fitness at 845-896-5678. Information is also available at allsportfishkill.com.
